The Bader-Hatcher Acquisition

The titles and editions within the Bader-Hatcher acquisition are an excellent sample of the range of books printed in the 16th century. Their content, where they were printed, and the languages in which they were printed reflect changing trends in intellectual traditions and culture that took place during the century.

The publication dates of the 12 titles span from 1512 to 1587; six are printed in London, and the rest were printed on the continent of Europe: two in Paris, one in Lyon, two in Basel, and two in Zurich. Seven are printed in Latin and six in English, with all of the books printed in continental in Latin.

The 12 titles in the acquisition span a wide range of topics, including works by Church fathers, history, agriculture, law, sermons, and religious doctrine.
